Sugaring hair removal: An ancient Egyptian practice, uses an all natural blend made from food-derived ingredients: Sugar, water, and lemon juice to remove the hair follicle from the root. The results can last up to 6 weeks. Some hair growth is needed. 1/16 of inch is needed when using the traditional sugaring technique, which is about 2-5 days of hair growth after shaving.

Buyer Beware: Because it’s hard to find a pro that does real sugaring, some salons and spas use a wax that has been mixed with sugar, and advertise it as sugaring- but it isn’t the same.

We are one of the only places (in Philadelphia) offering the real sugaring method. ONLY: Sugar, Chamomile Tea, Lemon Juice, Water, Tea Tree oil, and Lavender are used in our Sugar blend. There is absolutely nothing else!

Experienced professionals: Like our Sugarist,  Elina Safin - uses the traditional (quicker) sugaring technique, so the discomfort is less -compared to waxing. Sugaring doesn’t stick to the new skin (like waxing) which means little to no irritation. Easy clean up. The blend is water soluble, meaning you can clean off sugar blend residue with plain water, unlike regular wax.

Temporary results can turn into permanent. Over time, frequent sugaring can cause the hair follicle to become damaged, and stop growing hair.

Professional Sugaring: is generally more expensive than waxing because it’s not as commonly found. * We have set our price point similar to waxing prices:
Face:
  • Eyebrows (both, including in-between)  $20 +
  • Lip (skin right above upper lip)             $20 +
  • Sides of Face (side burn area)               $25 +
  • Chin                                                   $20 +

Men:  Have one exception - they cannot use sugaring on the beard due to a different hair root system.

The Most Frequently Asked Questions:

Is Sugaring hair removal safe?
Yes, the ingredients are all natural. Sugaring [which dates back to 1900BC Egypt] even has healing properties. The Lemon Juice and Tee Tree Oil act as astringents which can tighten the skin making hair removal easier.

What are the differences between Sugaring and waxing?
1. Wax adheres to the hair and the skin.
Sugaring blend adheres only to the hair and dead skin -  it does not stick to new skin- so there is less discomfort.
2. Wax is can burn  the skin.
Sugaring blend DOES NOT BURN. It is warmed and used at body temperature.
3. Wax often contains chemicals which can be a  hard on the skin if used repeatedly.
Sugaring blend is completely natural and gentle on the skin.
4. Wax can be messy to clean up due to the petroleum base.
Sugaring blend is easily cleaned up with water.

How long before hair regrows after sugaring?

Generally sugaring hair removal lasts between 4 and 6 weeks depending on the level of hair growth. The hair is removed from the root. Repeated sugaring treatments can tend to weaken the hair so it becomes easier over time.

 Ouch Factor: Is sugaring painful?
Okay, it’s still pulling out hair from the root, but most people find it less painful than waxing. We have some clients who sleep during the treatment!
